My inspiration was "Me" by Anthony Berlant. I chose this piece randomly as i sifted through the North Carolina Museum of Art's vast collections. Its bright colors and fingerprint pattern caught my eye, instantly giving me ideas for my own art piece. I really liked the layers colors and the abstract look of the lines that form the swirls recognized as a fingerprint.
In inspiring me, it gave me the idea to use my arm as a canvas, to paint designs on my fingers rather than painting an image of my fingers. Over the course of five days i painted five different designs on my arm from the elbow down. It was a long process as i had to paint a base coat and allow for each additional layer to dry. In the end it was only temporary as it began to crack and had to be washed off. However, i took many pictures of my paintings and their progress.
